In
opportunity of the exceptional event that celebrates the progenitor
of Courtly Gothic, Gentile da Fabriano, this stay’s proposal offers
the opportunity to visit the exhibition (which will keep from April
21 to July 23) of the great painter and to cover those routes which
in this territory have been characterized by the presence of Pope
Lion XII. Along the way, near Trocchetti, will be visited Pope’s
fountain, so called because Lion XII, in his journeys from and for
Vatican City, stopped to refresh himself. From the fountain, still
today spouts a very pure and very limpid water.
In
the Frasassi Throat, near the famous Caves, there is Valadier
temple, beautiful temple that was built by the biggest architect of
the epoch, because of the Pope’s will, inside the huge cavern of
Frasassi’s Beata Vergine. From the temple dominates the beautiful
homonymous Throat. The way winds for 700 meters along a path floored
in porphyry.
The
program includes the visit to the Religious Museum of San Clemente
which contains authentic artistic jewels, as a triptych and an
Antonio da Fabriano’s ensign, a marble statue representing Madonna
with the enfant Jesus made by Antonio Canova shop because of Pope’s
will.
